Uprising Theatre Company

uprisingUprising Theatre Company was founded by Old Catholic priest, trans activist, popular speaker, and blogger Father Shannon Kearns, or Father Shay (as he prefers), after his Old Catholic church plant in Minneapolis, House of the Transfiguration, had to close its doors a few months ago. Uprising is a grassroots theatre company committed to raising awareness, through original works of professional theatre, around serious social justice issues in the Twin Cities, across the country, and, really, around the world. Uprising is debuting their very first original production, “Son of a Gun,” an autobiographical play written by Father Shay that deals with impact that suicide has on relationships and generations that follow. The cast and crew of Son of a Gun are pairing with organizations in the Twin Cities that are dedicated to ending the stigma around suicide and mental illness.
